ABORT DAMPERS |
ABORT DAMPERS PROTECT EMPLOYEES AND MANUFACTURING FACILITIES
BY EXHAUSTING FIRES AND EXPLOSIONS TO THE ATMOSPHERE. |

An abort damper is installed on the return duct of a dust collection system
carrying filtered air back to the customer's plant. This aborting device is
activated by a properly installed spark or fire detection system, which
instantly expels the air to the atmosphere.
|
When combustible materials such as wood or paper are being conveyed pneumatically
in dust collection systems, abort dampers are recommended by NFPA codes
when recycling the filtered air.
|
These devices are fabricated from heavy gauge reinforced steel and they are mounted
on horizontal ducts. When the damper is in the abort position, a 120-Volt signal is
activated which can be used to operate a light or an alarm.
